As the year of 2013 comes to an end and the baby new year approaches, it’s easy to feel both sad and excited.
2013 has definitely been a year of excitement and mourning. This year saw the resignation of a pope and the election of another. It has seen the birth of a prince in George, son of Kate and William. It has seen the bombing of the Boston Marathon and the death of many including Nelson Mandela, Paul Walker and his friend, Margaret Thatcher and Jonathan Winters, Tom Clancy, Peter O’Toole and so many others who made a difference in our world be it politics, economics, arts, entertainments, etc.
For myself, it saw the purchase of a home, the combining of a family and all the joys and frustrations of both. It saw new friends enter our lives and sadly some leave this world to go back home to our father and his welcoming arms. It was marked by joyously simple experience like Taco Tuesdays with my mother, date night with my husband, walks with my dogs and basketball and track meets with my son. It held more challenges with my health struggles. I am sad to see it go.
But I am excited about the promise that always comes with a baby new year. It’s a beginning. A time to start fresh, new. I have plans and goals, hopes and dreams, and I so look forward to everything it holds in store for all of us.
Happy New Year from Wife, Mom, House… Oh My.
