So my interesting year continues. I spent this weekend fighting a nasty bug, which knocked my on my kisser enough that it postponed a series I am really excited about. New Year New You!
I look forward to every new year for many reasons but one is definitely the excitement of creating small tweaks that lead to BIG impact. If we stayed in the same rut, the same persona we have always had, then we get outdated, antiquated and frankly the butt of many a joke. How many of us have seen the woman or man trapped in a decade gone past and not thought of at least one joke about it. I am reminded of a episode of Big Bang Theory where Leonard is asking Penny for help in picking out a nice and professional outfit for a presentation he would be doing. As she goes threw his closet and I am paraphrasing she asks, “Do you have anything that is from this decade?” Leonard replies, “Well, everything comes back around, so if I keep it long enough it will be in fashion again.” Penny replies under her breath, “Well it isn’t now.” Again I am paraphrasing but the point is the same, if we never make changes and small adjustments, we could end up like Leonard and his cohorts on the Big Bang Theory…look at Amy Fara Fowler.
Not to mention something I shared more than once in my many fashion series blog posts, taking time for you and taking care of you is so very important. Mom is often the linchpin in every family and as the linchpin, you should take time to take care of yourself and pamper yourself. One way is to create a new you every new year.
So if you are concerned that you could end up stuck in a time warp of fashion and beauty, then there are some really easy ways to keep yourself from getting there. That’s what this short series is all about. Subtle ways to make changes and signs to know you need to change. It will focus on hair, make-up and beauty, and fashion. I promise we are not talking radical makeovers that take you from mom on the street to trolling the street. Simple changes and updates to keep you looking fresh, updated, in trend, appropriate and fashion forward. I hope you embrace the opportunity to tweak yourself. If you do, I would love to know what tips you try.
The “To Do” and “Not To Do” photos below are from an awesome blog called www.maskcara.com. Besides being an awesome make-up artist, she gives great tips on all sorts of topics, one of which is make-overs. Which is why I featured two of her amazing makeovers here. I personally loved her post on looking like a Victoria secret runway model. You will see my personal photos in this series but I will also be featuring some amazing other blogs here too that will go far more in depth than I into each of these topics.
I love love love the title to this post! Every day we make so many “updates” and changes about everything online! But what do we really do about ourselves?! We do need to take the time to “update” ourselves. Do you mind if I use this term the next time I am on the gossip phone with my girlfriend? 🙂
Thank you. Feel free to use it! You are right, especially as bloggers we are updating all the time. But often times we do forget to update ourselves. Hope you enjoy the rest of the series.
